In a shocking incident, a 39-year-old man was killed after his bike was rammed by an SUV car allegedly driven by the son of a Congress leader in Udipi in Karnataka.

The incident took place on Wednesday, November 13, when Prajwal Shetty, 26-year-old son of Congress leader Deviprasad Shetty, was driving a Thar SUV. He rammed his car into the two-wheeler of the victim, identified as 39-year-old Mohammad Hussain, around 5 am on Wednesday and fled. NDTV reported.

Hussain suffered serious injuries after being hit. He was immediately rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following night.

The incident was captured by a CCTV camera installed at a nearby house. The footage showed the SUV crossing the street at high speed and hitting a two-wheeler approaching from the opposite direction.

According to police sources, Prajwal was released on bail soon after he was arrested by Shirva police a day later following the hit-and-run incident.

His father Deviprasad Shetty is a well-known Congress leader from Belapu village in Udipi.
