Police find P13.3-M marijuana in Nueva Vizcaya

CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Police have recovered marijuana worth P13.3 million after an accident in Purok 4, Barangay Bone South, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya on Saturday.

Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., police director of the Cagayan Valley Region, said a vehicle rammed into a concrete barrier around 3 p.m.

Responding police officers observed the occupants removing bags from the vehicle, prompting them to conduct an inspection.

Lawyers opened the bags and found 111 dried marijuana cubes worth 13.3 million euros.

The suspected drug couriers were identified as Francis, 24; Monier, 21, and Yas, a wanted individual.

Marallag praised the police for their performance. “The key to successful eradication of illegal drugs is strong cooperation between residents and police authorities,” he said.

Marallag said the suspects are under police custody and facing drug-related charges.
