Chittoor police takes tough action against notorious chain-robbery gangs | Vijayawada News

Tirupati: Chittoor district police arrested notorious gangs involved in several chain snatching incidents reported in several cities in the district in recent weeks.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Chittoor SP VN Manikanta Chandol said that special teams had been formed to arrest the suspects following a spike in chain snatching incidents in Chowdepalle, Gangavaram, Mudivedu, Palamaner and other parts of the district.
The Chowdepalle police led by CI M Rambhoopal on Sunday arrested seven suspects involved in multiple chain snatching and cycle theft crimes.
The suspects arrested by the police were identified as M Chandrasekhar (32), R Hari Krishna (24), Dasari Nagaraju (38), L Bhaskar (37), P Bawajan (35), G Lakshmipathi (30) and K Pavan Kumar ( 27).
The Chittoor SP told reporters that this notorious gang stole bikes from Bengaluru in Karnataka and used the same bikes while committing chain snatchers across Chittoor district.
Police have recovered gold jewelery weighing 332 grams and three stolen bicycles worth around Rs.25.7 lakh from the suspect’s possession.
Meanwhile, Palamaner police on Sunday also arrested a notorious suspect involved in several chain snatching crimes. The suspect was identified as Bukya Prasad Naik (26). Police have recovered gold jewelery worth Rs.6 lakh and a motorcycle from the suspect’s possession.
