Eryk Anders Issues Statement After UFC 309 Match Cancellation: ‘There’s No Way I Could Have Goed Out’

Eryk Anders shares reason for withdrawing from UFC 309 fight against Chris Weidman

Eryk Anders has posed a video about him Instagram account to issue a statement following the cancellation of his UFC 309 fight.

“Status update: I got food poisoning on Friday night and there was no way I could have gone out to compete,” Anders wrote in the caption. “Super angry that I couldn’t compete against a former champion at MSG. I highly doubt that opportunity will arise again, but it is what it is. Hopefully we can rebook that matchup as soon as possible. Thank you all for the concerned messages.”

It’s a tough escape for Anders, who was hoping to secure his second win in a row. It was also a big opportunity for Anders, as Chris Weidman is a former UFC middleweight champion.

Anders’ last fight took place in March. He defeated Jamie Pickett via unanimous decision. At this time, there is no word on whether UFC matchmakers plan to rebook the matchup.

This was also an unfortunate situation for Weidman, who had many family members and friends present to watch him fight within MSG. Weidman also released a video statement wishing Anders a speedy recovery. He also apologized to his supporters, even though the circumstances were beyond his control.
