4 public universities in Hong Kong are among the best in the world for graduate employability

Four of Hong Kong’s public universities are in the top 133 universities in the world in terms of the employability of their graduates, according to a global ranking, with the best performing university ranked 24th.

The consultancy behind the research said Hong Kong regained its pre-Covid-19 momentum, with two universities rising in the rankings, while an HR expert said the high flexibility, adaptability and Western exposure of local graduates helped made them stand out on the labor market.

The annual global employability rankings, designed by HR consultancy Emerging and published by Times Higher Education (THE), provide insights on universities that recruiters at top companies say are best at preparing graduates for the workplace.

The ranking is based on an online survey conducted among international employers from June to September this year. It collected responses from more than 13,000 operations managers and professionals involved in recruiting and working with graduates.

Employers rate the employability performance of graduates from more than 1,000 universities worldwide, with each respondent having a maximum of 10 votes. The top 250 universities with the highest total votes are listed in the rankings.

Four of the city’s public universities ranked in the top 250. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) rose five places to 24th, while the city’s oldest institution, the University of Hong Kong (HKU), kept her 43rd place.
