Who is Vitória Monet?

Victoria, from Atlanta, Georgia, was born in May 1989 and later moved to California.

Starting her career, she joined the girl group Purple Reign and secured a recording contract with Motown, but the group broke up before releasing any music.

The singer went on to work on Diddy’s 2010 album Dirty Money, where she helped write Last Train to Paris.

Victoria released her debut EP Nightmares & Lullabies: Act 1 in 2015, and released Better Days featuring Ariana Grande the following year.

She achieved critical acclaim with her fifth EP Jaguar in 2020, which featured the track Experience ft Khalid and SG Lewis.

This year she won three Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Album and Best New Artist.

Yes, we have seen all the extremely false questions and accusations about our origin story and we have thought a lot about whether we owe it to someone to explain where we are as we heal, since we understand how social media can amplify the truth or run away with untruths.

‘Ultimately, we decided to be open and address the issue in hopes of putting an end to the question marks for the sake of our healing process. We’ve spent the last 10 months trying to respectfully and privately navigate the fact that we are no longer in a relationship.

‘Although we still adore and respect each other completely, we are no longer a couple. There was no infidelity, toxic behavior or drama. We both just have some fundamental growing up to do that would be best done separately so we can continue to be the best versions of ourselves for our daughter. It just didn’t work out and that’s okay.

‘We still think the world of each other and operate with love in every interaction with our family. We have an incredible daughter to raise for the rest of her life and that is without a doubt our number 1 priority forever. No relationship status can remove or replace that fact.

‘We are committed to doing the inner work and trusting that God will place us where we belong in due time. To all our supporters, friends and family, thank you for your love, care and concern. Please allow us the peace and space to maintain a safe and happy environment to continue co-parenting Hazel in the best way possible!
