The body of a man missing from the Sunrise Beach surf zone has been recovered

CAPE TOWN – The body of a man who was reported missing from Sunrise Beach near Muizenberg on Monday has been found.

The body was found on Saturday by the Strandfontein NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute).

The body has now been identified by the man’s relatives.

The NSRI says police have opened an investigation into the matter.

“The body of a man, identified by family, has been taken into the care of the Government Forensic Pathology Services and is believed to be the person who went missing from the surf zone at Sunrise Beach, near Muizenberg, on Monday,” the spokesperson said. NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon.

The incident follows another case of a woman possibly missing from the surf zone at Sunrise Beach the same day.

According to the NSRI, eyewitnesses said the missing woman was wearing a yellow shirt and has not been found since Monday despite an extensive search.

Authorities are calling on anyone with information about the incident or the missing person’s family to come forward.
