Collision between car and pedestrian reported to police after anonymous Facebook post

A collision between a car and a pedestrian was reported to police after witnesses posted about the incident on social media.

The police received a report on Sunday (November 17) about the incident on Saturday evening (November 16) after the driver himself contacted him after seeing a message on a Facebook group.

The anonymous post claimed the driver collided with the pedestrian, a man, on Layton Road, near Blackpool Road, and left the scene without rendering assistance. The incident happened around 8:20 p.m.

The woman’s own report, when she contacted police after seeing the Facebook post, said she stopped to render aid before leaving the scene. She said she has dashcam footage of the incident.
