Apparently, Bo Nix is doing a good job of pleasing the Denver Broncos coaching staff, including head coach Sean Payton.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Broncos coaches “loved” the heated sideline argument between Nix and Payton in the third quarter of their 34-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 6.

Russini noted that the situation resulted from Payton calling a play that Nix changed, causing his coach to unload on him.

The play Nix called should have resulted in a 45-yard touchdown on third-and-3 because Troy Franklin was open in the end zone, but Franklin was unable to corral the ball and the Broncos elected to punt on fourth down.

The two men told different stories after the game about what was actually said on the sideline. Nix joked they both said they love each other. Payton tried to make a Ferris Bueller analogy that didn’t entirely work, but you applaud him for trying.

Nix continued using clips Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on his Instagram Stories as part of his game recap.

According to Russini, another AFC West coach praised the highlights Nix included in the video because they were “mostly plays made by his teammates, on both sides of the ball.”

Nix is still learning on the job, but there have been signs of encouragement in his performance so far. The win over the Raiders marked his first game with multiple touchdown passes. He also completed a career-high 70.4 percent of his game-winning attempts.

Denver has won three straight games after an 0-2 start. Nix will look to maintain the positive momentum on Sunday when the Broncos host the Los Angeles Chargers, with the winner holding second place in the AFC West.
