22-year-old Alabama driver charged with human trafficking after traffic stop uncovers more than 2,000 illegal pills

A recent traffic stop in Alabama turned up more than 2,000 illegal pills and now the driver is facing drug trafficking charges.

At least she wasn’t trying to avoid the traffic stop.

One of the harsh realities of law enforcement is that police officers never know what they will find during traffic stops. There could be unregistered weapons, cases of kidnapping or virtually anything else. Recently, police in Alabama conducted an investigation traffic stopped and discovered a huge amount of illegal drugs. Now the driver is facing a number of serious charges.

This traffic stop in Alabama uncovered a drug trafficking business

According to Yahoo Newsthe Colbert County Drug Task Force recently conducted a traffic stop in Sheffield, Alabama. This happened on East 31st Street, but there is no word on the initial reason for the stop. However, the police on the scene deemed it appropriate to search the home vehicle. The good part of the story is that it appears the driver, Rylee Jeane Burkett, 22, complied with officers.

Unfortunately, things went a bit differently during the traffic stop. While searching the car, officers found a brown box and a plastic bag. As you might have guessed, there were illegal drugs in the bag. Specifically, the Colbert County Drug Task Force found 2,692 fentanyl pills. Naturally, she was arrested and charged with human trafficking. Her bail was set at $350,000.

Of course, the idea of Police officers detecting drugs during a traffic stop are far from unheard of. However, this is a large amount of what is considered one of the most dangerous drugs on the streets. Of course, drug trafficking is a crime, which means Rylee faces some pretty serious punishment.
