The Wycombe driver who crashed and attacked a police officer has been jailed

A man who crashed a vehicle outside a police station and then attacked an officer has been jailed for 18 months.

Marian Stancu, 32, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving after the July incident in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

Thames Valley Police said officers asked him to stop after interrupting traffic, but he drove away and crashed into the railing.

Stancu, of Micklefield Road in High Wycombe, also pleaded guilty to common assault on an emergency worker, failing to provide a sample for analysis, driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle on the road (or) in a public place place without third party insurance.

Police said the suspect retreated from highway patrol officers on West Wycombe Road in the early hours of Saturday, July 20.

He “continued to drive in a dangerous manner” after being asked to stop, crashing into the rails at the roundabout near Wycombe police station.

Investigating officer PC Richard Lunn said: ‘It is fortunate that Stancu did not collide with a member of the public.

“Stancu made the conscious decision to try to drive away from officers and flee justice, but I am pleased that he has now been convicted and jailed.”

He was convicted at Aylesbury Crown Court.
