Malcolm He later died of his injuries at a local hospital.

Civil rights groups and the public have long suspected a conspiracy surrounding his death involving police and government authorities. Moreover, at a UPI report at the time by Stanley Scott, who was one of only two reporters in the room when Malcolm

“Even before I entered Harlem’s Audubon Ballroom on Sunday to hear Malcolm is a conspiracy that will lead to my death.”

Thomas Hagan, also known as Talmadge Hayer, was tackled by the crowd as he attempted to flee the scene and was arrested. He later admitted to his involvement in the murder and was one of only three suspects to confess to the crime.

The other two suspects arrested shortly after the murder were Muhammad Abdul Aziz and Khalil Islam, both of whom denied involvement in the crime. All three were convicted of first-degree murder in March 1966 and sentenced to life in prison.

“It has been three years since we began our quest for justice for Malcolm X,” Crump said in a statement. “In that time, we have uncovered truth and evidence never before unearthed that will help pave the way to accountability and see the light of day in the courts!”

The complaint specifically alleges that the FBI under the infamous leadership of J. Edgar Hoover, as well as other U.S. government agencies and the NYPD, knew of serious and credible threats to Malcolm X’s life and authorized the assassination.

Crump’s team alleged in the complaint that Hoover’s FBI and CIA worked with undercover agents within the Nation of Islam, a group that Malcolm X was part of but left, to reduce his protection before the assassination.
