Stampede at high school in Kashgar, Xinjiang leaves 3 seriously injured, 11 with minor injuries

A stampede took place at a high school in Kashgar, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Monday afternoon, seriously injuring three students and leaving 11 others with minor injuries, according to Xinjiang Daily.

Around 3:25 pm on Monday, a student accidentally fell at the entrance of a dormitory at No. 8 High School in Kashgar Prefecture while students were on their way to classrooms, causing a stampede, Xinjiang Daily reported.

After the incident, emergency plans were immediately activated and relevant departments quickly arrived on the scene to bring the situation under control.

Treatment of the injured is ongoing and further investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, according to Xinjiang Daily.
