Arby’s employees arrive at work to discover that the restaurant is permanently closed

Arby’s employees arrive at work to discover that the restaurant is permanently closed

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO/Gray News) – Employees at an Arby’s in Cleveland, Ohio were shocked when the restaurant closed permanently without notice.

Employees said they had no idea the restaurant was closing until they showed up for their shifts last week, only to receive a sign on the door saying the location was permanently closed.

The workers are angry about the lack of notice and say that if they had been notified in advance, they could have already started looking for a new job.

“It’s like we have to work, we have to pay bills and stuff, and it was just a whole bunch of commotion,” employee Daundre Frazier said.

“We could have looked for another job,” he continued. “That would have been out of courtesy to them.”

Frazier said when he showed up for his shift on Nov. 11, he saw his other coworkers cleaning up the store. They told him they didn’t know about the closure until they showed up for their shifts that day.

Cashayliana Jones was a new addition to the Arby’s and was scheduled to start this week.

“I was really confused, did anyone know about this or did it come out of the blue?” Jones asked.

Frazier said employees were not informed of the closure in advance, but later received a letter from management dated Nov. 6.

The letter stated that if employees stayed and helped clean up the store, they could transfer to another Arby location.

“They didn’t let us know (in advance) because they didn’t think we would come and do the cleanup they needed us to do, but they never gave us that option,” Frazier said.

WOIO has reached out to Arby’s twice for comment but has not heard back.
