The monarch butterfly is easily recognized by its striking orange, black and white colors. This fascinating insect goes through an amazing life cycle consisting of four stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Some monarch butterflies migrate every year, while others do not. As caterpillars, they live exclusively on milkweed.
