Challenging Road Accident Arrest in 2023: Ravi Seneviratne’s FR Fired – Breaking News

A fundamental rights petition filed by incumbent Public Security Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne challenging his arrest over a 2023 road accident has been dismissed by the Supreme Court.

Former Senior DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Secretary, Ministry of Public Security, Ravi Seneviratne, had filed this petition challenging his arrest on October 28, 2023, following a road accident within the Wellawatte Police Division.

The three judges of the Supreme Court, comprising Justices S. Thurairaja, AHMD Nawaz and Priyantha Fernando, decided to dismiss the petition in limine after accepting the preliminary objections of the Attorney General challenging the maintainability of the petition.
