Roblox announces new safety updates for kids

(Gray News) – The company behind Roblox, an online video game platform and game creation system, has announced new updates for the safety of its younger users.

On a Monday editionThe Roblox Corporation said these new updates will improve security for users and introduce new, easy-to-use tools for parents and guardians to have more control and clarity over their children’s activities on the platform.

Some of these updates include changes to the way users 13 and under can interact with other players.

Additionally, new parental controls are being implemented that allow parents and caregivers to monitor their children’s screen time from their own devices instead of the devices used by the children.

“Security is and always has been the foundation for everything we do at Roblox,” the release said.

The company said it has built strong safety mechanisms over two decades and continues to develop them as new technology develops.

The company also said at least 30 improvements have already been made this year.

The recent changes were made following internal research, including interviews, surveys and international surveys of children and parents.
