Tensions erupted after Ranjan Ramanayake’s political conference on compensation

A tense situation emerged outside the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium following the conclusion of a conference of the United Democratic Voice, the new alliance led by prominent figure Ranjan Ramanayake.

The unrest reportedly stemmed from allegations from nearly 200 young attendees, who claimed they had not been compensated for their participation as promised by event organizers.

When Ada Derana made inquiries, police stated that the officers intervened to control the situation, eventually dispersing the crowd and ensuring that the young attendees returned to their accommodation.
