Elderly man accused of killing roommate, her dog

AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) – Police say they have arrested an elderly man in Austin after he killed his roommate and her dog, stole her credit cards and planned to flee the country.

Jack Moore, 84, is charged with first-degree murder.

On Nov. 18, around 1:50 p.m., police said officers were dispatched to the 6900 block of Bryn Mawr Drive for reports of a dead person.

When officers arrived on scene, police said they found a dead person, later identified as Linda Mlsna, and a dead dog inside the home.

Police say an investigation revealed that Mlsna’s roommate, Moore, was not at the residence and his location was unknown.

According to police, it was later discovered that Moore had used Mlsna’s credit cards to make fraudulent purchases after her death.

Authorities located Moore and arrested him on an unrelated warrant.

While interviewing Moore, police say he confessed to killing Mlsna and her dog, taking her credit cards and planning to flee the country.

Moore is booked into the Travis County Jail. He is currently out of bond.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Austin police at 512-974-8477.
