Former British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott dies at 86 – POLITICO

In a statement, his family said Prescott, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, died peacefully Wednesday, “surrounded by family and the jazz music of Marian Montgomery.”

The statement said that throughout his life, Prescott “sought to improve the lives of others, fight for social justice and protect the environment.”

“John loved his home in Hull very much and representing its people in Parliament for 40 years was his greatest honor,” the family statement said.
