Man, 70, killed after ‘hit and run’ in Hamilton as police hunt for Mercedes driver

A man has died after being hit by a car that failed to stop in Hamilton as police launched a hunt for the driver.

The accident happened on Sunday, October 27 at around 12.40pm on Quarry Street in Hamilton, when a pedestrian was hit by a small black car, possibly a Mercedes A-Class.

According to officers, the driver did not stop after the crash.

Emergency services attended and a 70-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant John Houston said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this time.

“Extensive investigations are being conducted to trace the car involved and its occupants as quickly as possible.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area of ​​Quarry Street on Sunday morning around the time of the crash and who witnessed the crash or who has information about the car involved to contact us.

“Anyone with a dashcam or personal footage is asked to view it and get in touch if it contains anything relevant to our investigation.
