Nashville man accused of shooting pregnant girlfriend now linked to pool party shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A man jailed for allegedly shooting his pregnant girlfriend now faces additional charges after police say ballistic science and license plate readers helped him in a July shooting at a Nashville apartment complex.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reports that 18-year-old Davin Denson Jr. is the gunman who opened fire at a Cambridge pool party at Hickory Hollow Apartments on July 11. A 16-year-old girl was hit in the back by the gunfire at the time. Police say Denson Jr. came out of a car driven by 18-year-old Sujoy Guha-Perry and started shooting at those at the party.

Denson Jr. has already served time in prison for the alleged shooting of his pregnant girlfriend in October. The gun recovered by police was analyzed and found to be the same weapon used in the pool shooting. Video from the scene also helped identify he and Guha-Perry, as did a license plate reader at the scene of the poolside shooting.

Denson Jr. is already charged with attempted murder for shooting his girlfriend and now faces five charges of aggravated assault, one charge of reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a weapon for the pool shooting. Guha-Perry faces five charges of aggravated assault and one charge of reckless endangerment.
