Man killed over trifle during 'tilak' ceremony in Begusarai

Begusarai: A 26-year-old man died late Wednesday night after assailants attacked him with bricks and stones following a clash over a minor issue during a ’tilak’ ceremony. The incident took place at Chamtha village under Bachhwara police station in Begusarai district. The victim was identified as Manish Kumar of Chamtha village.
Manish’s father Ranjeet Rai said Manish’s cousin Rahul was getting married on November 23 and his tilak ceremony was underway on Wednesday. “The attackers were not invited. However, they forcefully entered the event and put pressure on the DJ team to play the song of their choice. This irritated the people, and when Manish tried to stop them, the attackers started throwing stones and bricks at them.” Manish was fatally hit in the head. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital,” his father said, adding that his son had a job as a police officer.
Begusarai DSP (HQ) Ramesh Prasad Singh said one of the accused in the case has been arrested.
