County Park tops the national rankings for cleanliness

Edinburgh scored the highest in the whole of Britain, while Telford’s award-winning Town Park topped the rankings in England.

LitterBins.co.uk’s conclusion comes after the organization analyzed some of the most popular parks in Britain based on TripAdvisor reviews, Google reviews and overall quality score.

The research also analyzed local dissatisfaction in the area with waste management, revealing Britain’s cleanest parks.

Telford Town Park, which attracts around 700,000 visitors a year, was given a high rating of 4.6/5 on Google.

The park also achieved its high score because Telford achieved the lowest waste dissatisfaction score in the survey, at just 13/85.

Telford and Gateshead were the only two towns to make the top ten; all the other top-scoring parks were in Britain’s biggest cities, including Edinburgh, London, Cardiff, Belfast and Birmingham.

Telford Town Park, which has carried a prestigious Green Flag since 2004, is owned and managed by Telford & Wrekin Council and supported by the Friends of Telford Town Park and maintenance contractor Idverde.

There are 54 waste bins within the 450 hectares of the city park. In total they are emptied more than 19,000 times a year, with the bins being emptied daily or more often during peak periods.

The park has its own dedicated Rangers team who carry out daily checks and regularly patrol the area. People can report their litter problem to the municipality via the MyTelford app.

There is also an active Friends of Town Park volunteer group that helps with the work, including picking up litter.

Councilor Carolyn Healy, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Planning and Sustainability, said: “This new study is a fantastic pat on the back for everyone involved in keeping our city park so beautiful, from the visitors who use our bins so diligently to our partners. at idverde who maintain the park and waste bins so well, and the Friends Group volunteers whose dedication and hard work are greatly appreciated.”

Councilor Angela McClements, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism, Culture and the Arts, added: “I am pleased that this survey sheds light on satisfaction among our park users. It’s great to hear that they are happy with the park and it’s great to see Telford once again punching above its weight and topping the national polls. Justifiably.”

Adrian Smith, chairman of Friends of Telford Town Park, said: “This is great news and a reflection on everyone involved in the town park. It is nice to be involved in keeping the city park clean and tidy. Everyone has a role to play in keeping the city park at a high standard.”

Shaun Rhodes, Operational Delivery Manager at idverde, said: “As a service provider for Telford & Wrekin Council, this is a great result for idverde.

“The team works hard seven days a week. In addition to the cleaning work, they maintain the open spaces, shrub and flower borders and carry out a daily inspection of the play area. All this ensures that the park is clean, maintained and safe for all users.”
