Bag of ten witches? Man Utd ‘considering clever but unexpected replacement’ amid ‘new clause details’ revealed

According to reports, Manchester United have added a ‘shocking name’ to their list of potential candidates to replace manager Erik ten Hag.

The red devils have had a poor start to the 2024/25 campaign as they have won just two of their opening seven Premier League games. They also drew their first two Europa League group stage games.

Ten Witch was under immense pressure last season as Man Utd struggled to finish eighth in the Premier League. However, he kept his job after helping his team win the FA Cup.

United were linked with a number of potential replacements in the summer, but co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his new recruitment team opted to stick with Ten Hag, who extended his contract until 2026.

Man Utd’s disappointing start to this campaign has put Ten Hag at risk of losing his job and he is the current favorite to be the next sacked Premier League manager.

The Premier League giants are heavily linked with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, but he is reportedly in “advanced” talks with the FA to become England’s next permanent manager.

In turn, Man Utd may be forced to consider an alternative and report from the The Sun claims former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic is a ‘shocking name’ on his shortlist.

Terzic had two spells as Dortmund coach and left the club at the end of last season. He surprisingly departed after taking the Bundesliga side to the Champions League final.

The report says.

“He has a lot of admirers at Old Trafford and it would be a smart but unexpected move to go after him if they sack Ten Hag.

“United are currently reviewing Ten Hag’s position and have looked at the likes of Potter and Gareth Southgate, while former Chelsea and former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is on their radar.

“The 54-year-old Dutchman is on a short holiday and is confident he will still be in charge for Saturday’s visit to Brentford. But there has been no confirmation from the club as to whether this will be the case.

‘Two current Prem bosses will also be in contention should the Red Devils take a break from Ten Hag.

‘Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, who was Old Trafford manager under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Bees manager Thomas Frank have caught the attention of Old Trafford bosses. Simone Inzaghi, from Inter Milan, and Ruben Amorim, coach of Sporting Lisbon, were also mentioned.

Football finance expert Stefan Borson has provided “details of the new clause” in relation to Ten Hag, claiming his new contract could “make it easier” for Man Utd to sack him.

He said: “I don’t think it will be driven by pounds and pence. Ultimately, if you have to get rid of someone, it will be an unfortunate cost of doing business and you will just have to bear that cost.

“In fact, I suspect that they managed to insert into the new contract a severance clause that would go to Ten Hag that United were happy with and would be structured in a way that made sense because they were renegotiating the contract with the aim that anyway , this could happen in the next 12 months and could be terminated.

“I suspect they actually made things easier for themselves in that sense, rather than making it harder.”
