‘After Haryana, unity is the biggest message from Maharashtra elections’

The results of the close 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections made it clear that the Mahayuti will form the government. The Mahayuti won the elections with a huge majority of 234 seats. The ruling Mahayuti alliance of Prime Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar camp) won 230 seats. On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, comprising the Congress and the breakaway faction of the Sena and the NCP, failed to perform as they won only 47 seats. The BJP had contested 149 seats, Shiv Sena 81 seats, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP had fielded candidates in 59 constituencies. In the opposition alliance, Congress had fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) 95 and the NCP (SP) 86.
