Search for two suspects after a man was taken to hospital following an assault and robbery in West Lothian

A hunt has begun for a suspect after a man was taken to hospital following an assault and robbery in West Lothian.

Officers were alerted to the attack which took place between North Bridge Street and Mansfield Street in Bathgate at around 12.45am on Friday.

The man was robbed of a mobile phone and taken to St John’s Hospital before being released.

Police described one of the suspects as an Asian man and another as a Polish man, both wearing high-vis vests.

The Polish man was described as being about 35 years old.

The force is appealing to anyone with information about the attack

Detective Inspector Emma Thaker said: “Investigations are continuing and officers are examining CCTV footage in and around the area to gain further information about the circumstances surrounding this incident and to trace the two men responsible.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area between 12pm and 12.45pm on Friday who saw anything suspicious or has any information that could assist this investigation to please contact us.

“I would also ask any drivers with a dashcam to review their footage and get in touch if there is anything relevant.

“Information must be passed on to 101 quoting reference number 1451 of 22 November 2024.”
