Influencer arrested after uploading a Target video allegedly showing her stealing items

Marlena Velez, 22, was arrested after sharing a video of herself shopping at Target only for wearing the same clothes she allegedly stole in a later video.

An influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers has been arrested after a video she posted online backfired spectacularly, leaving her in handcuffs.

American social media star Marlena Velez posted a “get ready with me” video on TikTok for her 349,000 followers, a popular trend where people take snapshots of what their daily lives are like.

But the 22-year-old made a major blunder in the video.

Police in Florida had shared on social media a wanted photo of a woman with dark hair, wearing glasses, a tan shirt and matching pants, leaving Target with a cart full of stolen goods.

After police posted the image, Velez was seen on her TikTok video “Get Ready With Me” wearing “the same outfit and glasses” she wore in the CCTV footage as she allegedly scammed the store’s self-serve checkout.
