Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday said that the government is considering ranking the state’s colleges and a formula for the same is also being prepared.

Chairing a program of the alumni association of Government Degree College, Sanjauli, he said there are about 138 colleges in the state. He said: “We want to strengthen facilities in colleges and all other government educational institutions. The state government is emphasizing on providing quality education to the students and there is no dearth of funds for this work. He said that in two years, an art block, a girls’ hostel and a parking lot will be constructed in the college complex. He also announced Rs 50 lakh to the alumni association.

Many changes would be seen in the next budget with special emphasis on the area of ​​education. He said the previous governments looted the state’s resources but the current government is making efforts to provide the benefits to the people.

Recalling the past, the Prime Minister said, “I will always remember the time I spent in this college. My media advisor Naresh Chauhan contested the elections against me in college, but I won. Earlier, all student organizations went on strike over their demands to strengthen the institute,” he added.

He said that the students of Sanjauli College used to be included in the merit list and many students cleared the PMT exam of this college. He said the students should stay away from drugs and the state government took strict action against the drug mafia.

Sukhu said new courses would be started so that students could expand their skills and get better employment and self-employment opportunities.

Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice Sandeep Sharma said it was good to meet his old college friends. He said that this institute has made a significant contribution in giving a new direction to his career, for which he will always be grateful to the institute.
