UP: Five, including four women who died in a car accident; four others are critical

Five people, including four women, were killed while four others were seriously injured on Monday after a jeep collided head-on with a bus in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The incident took place on Katra-Bilhaur road near Gauri junction in Hardoi district.

The injured were taken to Lucknow King George Medical University College trauma center while the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Mallawa Police Station, Anil Kumar Singh, said the impact of the collision could be gauged from the fact that the jeep had been dismantled into several pieces and the parts were scattered over a distance of about 50 meters from the spot of the accident were found.

He said the incident took place when the passengers of the Jeep ferry were coming from Kanpur to Hardoi around 3 am on Monday after attending a wedding.

He said the deceased and the injured attended a wedding ceremony in Baghauli area of ​​Kanpur on Sunday evening.

The official said the identification of the deceased and the injured is being finalized as they are all family members. He said their relatives have been informed of the incident.

The SHO said the dead included four women and a jeep driver.

The occupants of the jeep were residents of Seudahi village and Gauri Kursath town in Hardoi.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
