The hiring ordinance will be introduced Tuesday at Mobile’s city council meeting

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The city of Mobile is sponsoring an ordinance that will be introduced during Tuesday’s Mobile City Council meeting regarding invitations.

It also sponsors ordinances regarding loitering in parks and playgrounds and obstructing sidewalks.

The proposed ordinances are sponsored by Mayor Sandy Stimpson.

Here’s what the proposed ammunition reads:

Sec. 55-102. – Prohibited actions. (1) It shall be unlawful for any person to participate in solicitations: On private property located within the City: i. If the Lawyer refuses to leave private property at the request of the owner, tenant or legal occupant of the property; or ii. B. If the owner, renter or legal occupant has asked the person not to make requests on the premises, or has posted a sign clearly stating that requests are not welcome on the premises. (2) It is unlawful to engage in aggressive solicitation.

Sec. 55-104. – Sanctions. (1) A violation of this section is punishable by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment not exceeding six (6) months, or by both, as determined by the Municipal Court. (2) In lieu of or in addition to the penalty provided for in this section, a person who contravenes this section may be required to perform community service as prescribed by the court.

Sec. 41-5. Loitering in Parks or Playgrounds (1) All City parks shall close after dark, except boat ramps located in City parks or otherwise located or during City-sponsored or co-sponsored events. (2) It is unlawful for any person to remain in the city’s parks or playgrounds after dark or during posted hours. (3) Punishments. (a) A violation of this section is punishable by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment not exceeding six (6) months, or by both, as determined by the Municipal Court. (b) In lieu of or in addition to the penalty provided for in this section, a person who violates this section may be required to perform community service as prescribed by the court.

Sec. 57-73. Obstacles on sidewalks – In general (1) No person shall walk, stand, sit, lie, or place any object in such a manner as to intentionally block the passage of another person or to require any other person to take evasive action to avoid physical avoid contact, or who, after being ordered to move by law enforcement officers, is on or on a public sidewalk in such a manner as to block or impede the movement of pedestrians. (2) This ordinance shall not apply to any property approved by the City of Mobile. (3) Penalties (a) A violation of this section shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment not exceeding six (6) months, or by both, as determined by the municipal court. (b) In lieu of or in addition to the penalty provided for in this section, a person who violates this section may be required to perform community service as prescribed by the court.
