Diddy requests house arrest in his apartment on New York City’s Upper East Side

The legal team for Sean “Diddy” Combs requested that the disgraced music mogul be placed under house arrest in his Upper East Side apartment in New York City, along with a $50 million bond.

Diddy’s lawyers suggested that one security guard could be stationed downstairs in the building where the apartment is located, along with two additional security guards who would be stationed in the three-bedroom home itself, according to a report from We weekly published on Friday, November 22. The newspaper also stated that the 55-year-old “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” rapper would not have access to the internet or telephone and would only communicate with his counsel. All calls would be handled through the approved security team.

Diddy’s lawyers said they believed it would be “significantly more restrictive” to have him under house arrest in his apartment than where he is currently housed at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center. In addition to not having access to the internet or telephone, Diddy was not allowed to receive visitors unless they were his lawyers. The lawyers suggested that visits to his family would be allowed if they were approved before the trial. Diddy’s legal team argued that the Grammy Award winner should be allowed to prepare for his upcoming trial due to “new evidence and circumstances.”

A decision on whether Diddy will be released on bail is expected to arrive next week We weekly.

Diddy’s counsel had first requested that the Bad Boy Records founder be placed under house arrest at his home on Florida’s private island of Star Island. The house, which was one of Diddy’s properties raided by Homeland Security Agents in Marchonly has one way on and off the island. There is a dock, but the lawyers clarified that the Get Him to Greek actor would not have access to a boat there.

The request was immediately denied by the U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian who said, “That’s not going to work.”

Diddy’s legal team did has filed a total of four bail applications since his arrest on September 16. He was hit with a slew of charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. The indictment accused Diddy of a consistent and widespread pattern of mistreatment of women, including verbal, physical and sexual abuse.

“To do this, (Diddy) relied on the employees, resources and influence of the multifaceted business empire he led and controlled – creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged and attempted to participate in crimes, sex trafficking, among other crimes , forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.”

Diddy pleaded not guilty to all charges and to his attorney Marc Agnifilo gave a statement to the media the day after the rapper’s arrest.

“We are disappointed with the decision to proceed with what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Agnifilo told the newspaper. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the past 30 years building an empire, adores his children and working to uplift the Black community.”
