LIV Golf pro issues apology after being sacked by Sergio Garcia

Sergio Garcia’s former LIV Golf teammate Eugenio Chacarra claims he played most of the 2024 season injured.

Chacarra finished 39th overall, which was enough to secure its spot on the breakout tour for their third full campaign in 2025.

But Garcia believed Chacarra was redundant in his Fireballs side.

Garcia said Golf Magic for the past month he wants ‘a different kind of player’ in his quartet.

Chacarra told reporters in Hong Kong last week that he is working with his agent to find a new team.

He hopes a resolution will be reached before he brings it up at the upcoming Saudi International.

And Chacarra has also opened up about where he feels something went wrong.

He played the first five events of 2024 in pain, he said.

“It was difficult for me to compete, which put a dampener on me. It’s very difficult to compete against the best in the world who is injured,” he said.

“But after that I play pretty solid and everyone knows me and knows I’m a solid player and when my putts go in, I go low.”

He added: “I think I am a reliable man and have had six good tournaments out of the 13 we play, five of which have been affected by injuries.

“But that’s golf, it shows how tough the competition is and how tough LIV Golf is when you’re playing against some of the best players in the world.

“I’m thankful that it’s back to normal; I can now get back into shape and get my game in shape and I’m definitely excited because I love the game of golf and I love practicing and getting better and now it’s going about gets better every day.”
