Local driver charged in a traffic accident during an early morning stop

The 32-year-old’s driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and his pickup truck was impounded for seven days.

As a result of an ongoing police investigation earlier this evening in the City of Midland, officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a Toyota Tundra pickup at the intersection of Colborne and Russell Streets , Midland at approximately 4:12 a.m., November 24, 2024.

Officers spoke with the driver and initiated a driving investigation at the scene, resulting in the following.

Cameron Hook, 32, of Midland was arrested and charged with dangerous operation, operation while impaired in blood alcohol (80 plus), and further with Provincial Offenses Act charges of novice driver – BAC above zero, driving while he was under suspension.

The suspect was released and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 12, 2024. In addition, his driver’s license will be suspended for 90 days. The pickup truck involved was towed and will be impounded for seven days in accordance with Department of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
