Dad. The Republican Party says it has received bomb threats and has closed its Montgomery County headquarters

The Republican Party of Pennsylvania said it received a bomb threat Saturday, forcing it to close the headquarters of the Montgomery County Committee.

The GOP reports that staff received a call around 11 a.m. claiming the caller had communicated an angry, profane bomb threat.

The party issued the following statement in a press release to the media:

Today’s incident is one of an increasing number of threats, violence and intimidation against Republican candidates, offices and staff this cycle – on top of two assassination attempts against President Donald Trump.

“Nothing will stop us from working to elect those who will put our country back on track,” said Chairman Lawrence Tabas. “And there should be unanimous agreement that there is no place for political violence in our elections, especially after an innocent husband and father from Butler County lost his life to political violence. We strongly urge Pennsylvanians to express their opinions through voting, not through violence and intimidation.”
