Industrial robot designed to perform dangerous and tedious tasks

Robots are being designed to do things that we humans cannot do, especially ‘EACH’, an industrial robot.

7News On Your Side’s Lindsey Mastis met ANYmal and his team at the AI + Robotics Summit, hosted by the Special Competitive Studies Project.

“From day one, it was built to go into industrial environments and collect detailed, consistent data,” said Richard Climenhage, commercial director of ANYmal in North America.

Climenhage said ANYmal often does two things: monotonous work and dangerous work. When it comes to the monotonous, he said ANYONE can do it more accurately. When it comes to dangerous tasks, ANYmal has no complaints.

“A robot doesn’t care,” he said. “It’s willing to go into those environments and the dangerous environments. It could gas these environments. It can be a very warm environment and they are collecting the data.”

ANYmal is robust and can collect all kinds of data. It has a camera, an ultrasonic microphone and a thermal camera.

ANYmal can work in many different environments, including wet floors and bumpy terrain, and can walk up and down stairs.
