He is charged in the death of his 16-year-old brother, who was killed early Monday morning at his home in the 1990 block of Stone Creek Court.

According to the sheriff’s office, six teenagers, ranging in age from 16 to 19, were at the home drinking and handling various firearms.

According to court filings Tuesday morning, Tettleton told investigators he thought the gun was unloaded when he pointed it at his brother’s chest and fired it from no more than six inches away.

Prosecutors say he initially denied his involvement and allegedly asked the other teens there to help him hide the gun and shell casing.

Tettleton eventually admitted to the shooting after his attorney appeared during questioning, officials say.

Authorities say the boy’s parents were dealing with a personal matter outside the home and are unlikely to be charged in their son’s death at this time.
