TUESDAY NEWS HIT – A lot of time and energy goes into the preparation thanksgiving dinner, So it’s important to make sure your meal isn’t ruined by potentially contaminated food.

Several food products have recently been investigated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for disease outbreaks and possible contamination.

Below are three recalled food know before the holidays.

Organic carrots

The FDA has announced a voluntary recall organic carrots by Grimmway Farms in California pending an investigation into an E.coli outbreak.

The recall includes multiple sizes and brands of bagged organic whole carrots and baby carrots.

The organic whole carrots were available at retail from the following brands from August 14 through October 23, 2024: 365, Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, Compliments, Full Circle, Good & Gather, GreenWise, Marketside, Nature’s Promise, O Organics , President’s Choice, Simple Truth, Trader Joe’s, Wegmans and Healthy Pantry.

Ground beef

Wolverine Packing Co. in Detroit, Michigan has recalled ground beef products due to potential E. coli contamination.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on November 20 that the manufacturer had recalled nearly 168,000 pounds of ground beef that may have been contaminated.

The fresh ground beef products have a shelf life of November 14, 2024 and the frozen products have a labeled production date of October 22, 2024.

Ready-made meat

Yu Shang Food, Inc., based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has recalled nearly 73,000 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to possible infection with listeria.

The FSIS reissued the notice on November 21, noting that all RTE products within their shelf life and manufactured before October 28, 2024 are subject to recall.

Waterford man accused of ethnic intimidation

A Waterford man was charged on Saturday with making a threat of terrorismpreparation to burn property and ethnic intimidation, among other things, at a gas station in Pontiac.

Police say Noah Syl Johnson, 28, walked into the gas station store at 7 p.m. Friday with a lit cigarette in his mouth, a gas can and an open book in his hand. He then made multiple statements to the clerk: “Hey man, where is your Quran? Whose side are you on? Christian or Muslim?”

It was then that he poured petrol onto the store’s shelves, during the incident which was captured on security camera footage.

Police found Johnson walking in the area with the gas can. He brandished a large kitchen knife and ran from the officers. He then refused to drop the knife before being arrested.

Madison Heights mother expected in court after 5-year-old dies in their home

A mother is in police custody after her 5-year-old daughter died at home. So far, there has been no official word from investigators on what exactly happened, but the little girl’s father did speak to FOX 2 about what took place.

“My heart is broken and I just don’t know what to do now, but we’re dealing with it,” her father said.

Her name was Aiyana. Her father described her as a star. Sadly, she died this weekend following tragic circumstances when her mother returned home after a night of drinking. When she got home, she hugged her daughter and choked her, the girl’s father said.

“I found her at 7:30 in the morning and I had seen her under her mother. I threw her mother off her, and I grabbed my baby and her body was lifeless,” he said. ‘This was not intentional. Her mother would never hurt her. Would never do anything to hurt her.”

Teen in custody after shooting 12-year-old

Detroit police have a teenager in custody after the 16-year-old allegedly shot another boy on the east side of the city. A 12-year-old boy is now recovering in hospital after being hit in the arm. Detroit police say the 16-year-old gunman is related to the victim, but it is unclear how.

Emergency crews responded to the area of ​​Seven Mile and Dequindre after receiving reports of a shooting. The shooting happened at a home on St. Aubin Street near Robinwood around 10 p.m

There were two adults and four children in the home at the time of the shooting. A K-9 unit found the gun behind the garage.

A dramatic RenCen redesign would remove two towers in GM, Bedrock’s new concept plan

The Renaissance Center – and Detroit’s skyline – may be getting a drastic makeover with a redesign plan. One plan would remove the complex’s low-rise buildings and the two office towers closest to the river, Bedrock and General Motors announced to “right-size” the RenCen footprint.

The plan would reduce office space and redevelop the remaining three towers into hospitality and residential, leaving most of the skyline intact, while adding a large public space on the river.

A new pedestrian promenade would be built, connecting the city to the riverfront, and converting the reclaimed land into public space. The flow of the improved layout would allow direct access to the buildings and riverfront.

Mayor Mike Duggan said the Bedrock component is the latest public-private partnership plan that has been used with great success in recent years, ala Michigan Central Station.
