Hong Kong couple arrested for allegedly leaving worker’s body on roadside

A 67-year-old man and his 65-year-old girlfriend have been arrested for allegedly leaving an illegal worker on the side of a road, who was later confirmed dead in hospital.

The worker was found on the ground on Cheung Sha Wan Road near Nam Cheong Street in Sham Shui Po at 1.25pm ​​on Tuesday.

He was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei where he was confirmed dead at 2.10pm.

Police later found a light goods van on nearby Yu Chau Street, which the worker was believed to have been in earlier.

The man and woman found near the van were arrested for illegally removing a body.

A police source said the deceased man in his 40s was an illegal renovation worker who had worked for the couple in the New Territories. It turned out that he was sick at work earlier in the day.
