Man killed when car ran off identified Birmingham road

A driver killed when his car left Wenonah-Oxmoor Road and went down an embankment was a 47-year-old man from Birmingham.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Suni Khan.

The single-vehicle accident happened at 6:25 a.m. on Monday near West Oxmoor Road.

Khan’s sedan was traveling eastbound when the car left the road, drove down an embankment and came to a stop next to the railroad tracks below.

Khan was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene at 7:16 am

Authorities were able to notify CSX and a train was stopped just feet from the crashed car.

Birmingham Police, Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service and CSX officials responded.

The investigation is ongoing.
