Detroit teen charged after accidentally shooting 12-year-old nephew

The 12-year-old expected things to turn out fine

DETROIT – A Detroit teen was charged Tuesday after accidentally shooting his 12-year-old cousin Monday night.

The the shooting took place on November 25 in the 18800 block of Saint Aubin Street just before 10 p.m

According to authorities, a 16-year-old boy was reportedly playing with a gun when it accidentally went off, hitting his cousin in the arm.

The 12-year-old was taken to a local hospital for his injury and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said the 12-year-old is expected to be OK.

The 16-year-old was arrested and taken to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center. He was charged with careless discharge of firearm causing injury.
