Why Cornes turned down the boxing fight with Dane Swan

Kane Cornes will not return to the boxing ring unless a completely ridiculous offer comes his way.

The Port Adelaide great went down on his boxing debut against fellow AFL media personality Nathan Brown in Adelaide at this year’s Gather Round, and he believes it will be the only time he properly straps on the gloves.

Following that fight, Cornes says he was recently approached by a promoter to fight former Collingwood star and Brownlow medalist Dane Swan in January.

Unfortunately for those hoping to see the SEN presenter back in the ring, Cornes explained why he wouldn’t have even accepted that fight if he was offered half a million to compete.

“I’ll give you an exclusive gift,” Cornes said SEN breakfast.

“I recently got a text message… in January I was offered another fight… it was to fight Dane Swan.

“Honestly, I wouldn’t do it for half a million dollars. I wouldn’t even do it.

“If someone said, here’s a check for $500,000, I promise you I wouldn’t do it.”
