Conor McGregor receives public message of support from partner Dee Devlin following civil rape case

Dee Devlin has broken her silence after fiancée Conor McGregor lost his civil sexual assault case last week.

A High Court jury ordered him to pay complainant Nikita Hand €248,603.60 (£206,556.03) after she accused the Irishman of raping her in a Dublin hotel.

McGregor was not criminally prosecuted, as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) decided against this earlier in 2020.

He has denied the claim and plans to appeal.

His partner of 15 years, Devlin, arrived hand in hand carrying double the weight UFC champion for his recent hearings and took to Instagram on Tuesday evening to issue a statement.

“Conor and I addressed these issues privately many years ago, as any relationship should, and we have come out stronger than ever,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.

‘We now have four beautiful children whose smiling faces and happy hearts are a testament to who he is and who we are!

‘No one has the right to comment on our relationship: we trust and love each other.

“Nothing or no one will change that. Our family is strong!”

She also reserved some choice words for Mrs. Hand.

A day before Devlin’s statement of support, McGregor released his own statement apologizing to his fiancée.

“People want to hear from me, I needed time,” he wrote on X.

‘I know I’ve made mistakes. Six years ago I should never have responded to her outreaches.

‘I should have closed the party. I should never have given up on the woman I love most in the world.

‘That’s all on me. As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all witnesses present swore that under oath.

“I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision. I can’t go back and I’m moving on.

“I am deeply grateful to my family, friends and supporters around the world who have stayed by my side.

“That’s it. No more. Back to the gym, the fight game awaits!”

This comes after the company that Proper No. Twelve Whiskey bought from the MMA star stated that McGregor’s “name and likeness” would are no longer used on their products.

McGregor sold his whiskey brand to Mexico’s Proximo Spirits in 2021 for a reported $130 million (£103.6 million).

It was used in several advertising campaigns for the alcoholic drinks after the sale.

However, Proximo has stated that this will no longer be the case in the future.

“Since 2021, Proximo Spirits is 100 percent owner of Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey,” the company said in response to questions.

“Going forward, we do not intend to use Mr. McGregor’s name and likeness in the marketing of the brand.”

Tesco and other major retailers such as SuperValu, Centra, Costcutter and Carry Out have also taken a stand, insisting they will no longer stock products linked to McGregor.

Meanwhile, IO Interactive, the company behind the Hitman video game series, is also ending its collaboration with ‘Notorious’.

A character based on McGregor appears in Hitman World of Assassination, but IO Interactive has since pulled the DLC.

“We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications,” the company wrote on Monday.

“That’s why, starting today, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our stores.”
