Hollyoaks star promises huge 2025 storyline for Rex

Hollyoaks star Jonny Labey has teased that his character Rex Gallagher will take center stage in an exciting storyline next year.

Rex has been involved in several sticky situations since arriving in the village earlier this year. First of all, him began an affair with Ste Hay While in the pre-time jump episodes, Chester struggled with the crimes of gangster Blue. It was then revealed that Rex was Grace Black’s long-lost brother, and now it seems he’s reconnected with two faces from his past: newcomers Kat and Jacob.

“We meet Jacob and Kat and they are part of Rex’s past,” Labey said Liverpool echo. “Before coming to Chester he was involved in various exploitative activities and has a connection with these two people.”

The actor promised that something “big” is in store for Rex in 2025 — and it looks like his connection to Jacob and Kat might have something to do with that.

“As far as I can tell, this is all connected to a huge, huge storyline,” he said. “They’re planning and coordinating quite a few things so that it all lines up. The writing team is making sure that they direct it in the right way and tie everything together because there are so many crossovers. “

He added: “Jacob and Kat are a huge link to what Rex was. He comes from a whole dynasty of danger and crime.”

The subplot not only involves Rex, but is said to impact the entire village. It begins after what Labey described as a “nostalgic” incident takes place in the new year.

“What happens next really affects many people in the village. It’s really building towards something that Rex is hugely a part of next year which is really quite turbulent but also quite moving and it’s something that’s a huge problem in Britain and it’s a huge problem with the way people are being treated,” Labey said.

“It’s not necessarily a story that’s been talked about a lot, so I can tell you that and Rex is kind of leading the way.”

The actor added: “Something big is happening in the new year and it’s nostalgic for fans in a weird way so it’s going to really set things on fire but where it leads and the world that Kat and Jacob are a part of is a much bigger picture. .”

Hollyoaks airs Monday through Wednesday with his Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7 p.m., followed by an E4 broadcast the same evening at 7 p.m. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their release on Channel 4.
