Jameis Winston gives major support to Browns fans after improbable win

A week ago numerous players in the Cleveland Browns The locker room used some very stern rhetoric after some of the fans in attendance cheered last Sunday while the quarterback Deshaun Watson left the game with a season-ending Achilles injury.

One of those players was the backup quarterback James Winstonwho had some very charged comments about the situation after the match. The ugly moment seemed to create a rift between Browns fans and the team’s players just days later.

But when Browns secured an improbable 29-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens a week later, even Winston could no longer stay in conflict with the fans.

“I’m happy we got this win for the fans,” Winston said. “This was a fan base win, right? All the things that happened last week, it was an emotional week for us, but this was a fan base win. And now we have the fans back on our side and we have to keep fighting for them and show and demonstrate that it’s necessary for us to be the best NFL players that we can be and win football games for the Cleveland Browns organization.

The metaphorical breaking of bread should be a nice turning point for both parties. A victory also supports Winston’s peace offer. As is the fact that the 10-year veteran was the main catalyst for the win. Winston completed 27 of 41 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns, setting up a game-winning score with just over a minute remaining.

He even went so far as to acknowledge the fans for their role in his performance and, more importantly, for the win.

“I’m just grateful that everyone did their part,” he said. “That’s the thing: When you have passionate fans, you’re especially important to us. We feed off your energy. You know what I mean? You all feed off our energy.”

Just a week after venting his frustrations to the team’s biggest supporters, he instead handed out plenty of props for their support.

“You have the home team, the away team and you have the referees. That’s right,” Winston explained. “But the advantage is your fans and the support you get from your fans, whether it’s the crowd noise, whether it’s a change of momentum. You know when your fans are with you or when they’re not with you you are. And our fans were certainly with us today, and we have to continue to embrace their support and continue to stand up for them and stand out.
