76-year-old woman found dead in home after Scottsboro building fire

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WAF) – A woman was found dead in a home after a fire broke out Thursday morning.

According to Jackson County Coroner John David Jordan, there was no fire present upon arrival at the scene, but a 76-year-old woman who appeared to have been suffocated inside the home was found dead.

The incident occurred along Sebring Drive in Scottsboro.

Scottsboro Fire, Scottsboro Police and the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office all assisted on the case.

Details about the cause of the fire have not yet been released.
