Human remains found in Arizona’s White Tank Mountains, identified as missing woman

WADDELL, AZ (AZFamily) – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Amber Barnett’s body was recovered in the White Tank Mountains, months after she disappeared while hiking.

On Thursday, officers confirmed the remains were Barnett’s. She has been missing since April 2, 2024.

According to a flyer obtained by Arizona’s Family, Barnett was initially reported missing after she did not return from her walk in the park in Waddell, about 35 miles northwest of Phoenix.

The flyer stated that after a search, her car, keys and wallet were found in one of the lots.

Last On Sunday a hiker saw human remains, prompting homicide detectives to investigate and identify the remains.
