Redding woman charged with vehicular manslaughter after deadly collision on Lake Boulevard

The Redding Police Department (RPD) has identified the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision in Redding on Thursday.

RPD said their officers responded to a collision in the area of ​​Lake Boulevard near Clay Street around 1:54 p.m. At the scene, police found a pedestrian standing alone on the side of the road who had been struck by a vehicle.

An investigation led officers to discover that the pedestrian had been pushing a shopping cart onto the shoulder of Lake Boulevard when they were struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 44-year-old Jessica Kathryn Remedios of Redding. Police said she did. Remedios did not stop after hitting the pedestrian and instead went to her house.

Police contacted Remedios at her home and placed her under arrest for vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence and causing great bodily harm or death, and a misdemeanor, and was booked into the Shasta County Jail.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, but their identities are being withheld until next of kin are notified, RPD said.
