Two men arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Fargo

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – On Monday, November 18 at 8:22 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 900 block of Southwood Dr. S. The registered owner of the vehicle stated that the car was last seen in their locked garage, but the keys were inside.

The vehicle’s details have been entered into the database of the National Criminal Investigation Information Center and the FPD’s FLOCK camera system. Around 1 p.m. the same day, FLOCK license plate readers alerted officers to the stolen vehicle’s location and last known direction of travel in Fargo.

Officers observed a man, identified as Valentino Barrientez, leave the driver’s seat and enter a business while two passengers remained in the car. During his arrest, police say the keys to the stolen vehicle and narcotics were found in Barrientez’s possession.

At the same time, the two passengers in the car were arrested. One of the individuals was observed with drug paraphernalia on his feet and was identified as Dacotah Coggins, who had multiple active warrants for his arrest. The second passenger was released at the scene.

Barrientez, a 34-year-old Fargo resident, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia, in addition to a Clay County warrant for probation violation and Cass County warrants for theft of a motor vehicle and unlawful entry of a vehicle and two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Coggins, a 24-year-old of no fixed address, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, in addition to Cass County warrants for driving under suspension, possession of methamphetamine and two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
