Temple management heads were told to install CCTV cameras to stop cases of theft and desecration

Following a series of theft and desecration cases at temples, the Siddipet Rural Police on Thursday (November 28, 2024) advised temple heads in the region to install CCTV cameras that provide 360-degree coverage at temples.

At a meeting with the presidents, committee members and function hall owners of various temples, Siddipet Rural Circle Inspector made them aware of the precautions and security measures to be taken to prevent thefts and anti-social activities on the premises.

The official suggested that the dogis set up in the temples should be counted once in three to four days and significant amounts of money should not be left in the hundis. He also said that the deities in the temples should be decorated with gold ornaments only during anniversaries and festivals. On the other days, gilded ornaments can be used, he said.

Installation of central locks on the temple doors, deployment of security guards and proper lighting around the temple premises were among other suggestions made by the official.

Circle Inspector Srinu said the temple presidents and executive members should hold regular review meetings and if there are any problems, they should be resolved immediately.

He encouraged temple presidents and executive members to hold regular review meetings to identify and resolve security issues in a timely manner, and villagers to report troublemakers to the police.
